One of the most complete Latin editions of Alciatus' Emblemata. Alciatus wrote the emblems as epigrams for his humanist friends and sent a selection of them to his friend Peutinger at the court of Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg. They were first published under the title Emblemata by Steyner at Augsburg in 1531 without Alciatus' consent, and met a tremendous success. - This copy with "Rouille" title.
