VOC BINDING -- (BIBLIA, dat is de gantsche H. Schrifture, vervattende alle de Canonyke Boeken des O. en des N. Testaments. Amst., 1774). 5 parts in 1 vol. Lge-4°. Cont. paneled cf., w. gilt monogram of the chamber of the 'A(msterdam) VOC' on the front side. (Lacking several preliminary lvs. of the OT, incl. ti.-p., bind. dam. in places).

According to the family notes included herein (laid down on inner side of upper board), the Bible belonged to Pieter Christiaan Willem Mossel (1765-1834), who was i.a. sub-merchant of the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, second administrator of the Graanmagazijn in Batavia, member of the College of Marriage and Small Courts there 1792-1794, mentioned in 1794 as merchant and resident in Grissee (Surabaya residence). The family notes mention, among others, Theodora Elisabeth Mossel (born 1796) who marries squire Gustavus Willem van der Feltz. - Sold w.a.f., not subject to return.
