Fine cont. mottled cf. by the First Stadholder Bindery (The Hague), spine raised in compartments, richly gilt dec. sides and spine, a.e.g. (Spine ends a bit chipped/dam. and w. traces of repair, lower margin a bit stained in places (not affecting the plates themselves), fold. plate a bit dam. & rep., lacking plates B-iv ("lazarus-klap") and I-3 (falcon), but still a very attractive copy).

First and only Dutch version of 'Deliciæ Naturæ Selectæ oder auserlesenes Naturalien-Cabinet' (Nuremberg, 1751-1767). The exquisite objects depicted - corals, shells, butterflies, sea-apples, metals, lobsters & insects, molusca, fishes, birds, mamals and reptiles - derived from naturalist's cabinets owned by Trew, Schadeloock, Stedeling, Statius Muller, etc. The delicately coloured plates were engraved by B.R. Dietschlin, G.F. Dietsch, J.L. Colve, Chr. Leinberger, a.o. Numbered "89" by hand of c. 100 copies printed, inscribed as such beneath the list of subscribers by the notary public in Dordrecht, P.J. van Steenbergen, guaranteeing that no copies were printed in excess of those ordered subscribers (the list is included in the prelims). - For the binding cf.
