MANUSCRIPTS -- IBN 'ÂSIM. Tuhfat al-Hukkâm fî nukat al-'uqûd wa-l-ahkâm. North Africa (probably Morocco), c. 1750-1820. 42 lvs., incomplete (missing at least one initial leaf). Arabic manuscript on paper in Maghribi script in brown ink with rubrication, 20-22 lines per page. Dimensions: 18x12 cm. Hcl. (Loose in bind., significant staining, soiling and edge losses, but text generally legible).

Arabic manuscript on paper of this central didactic poem of Maliki law widely memorized in the Maghrib and West Africa. Its incomplete state (missing at least one initial leaf) is representative of the practical working manuscripts used in study circles. - On the inside cover, a bibliographic note by professor van Koningsveld identifies the text as the Tuhfat al-hukkâm.
