With woodcut printer's device on 2 titles, 17 woodcuts in Book 5, and full-page woodcut frontispiece, verso blank, 3 large woodcuts, and 11 woodcuts in Book 6. Cont. limp vellum w. overl. sides, w. raised bands & small gilt ornaments in the compartments and gilt central ornament on both sides, a.e.g. (Overlapping sides dam./partly gone, a few old ink annot., some light traces of uses).

Books 5 and 6 of the octavo edition published in the year Groulleau completed the first printing in octavo of the first 12 Books of the Amadis de Gaule. The various books were published and republished separately or in mixed sets.
