Huys, (…) opgedragen. Amst., C. Dankerts, n.d. (c. 1696). 1 letterpress dedication, r° & v°, w. on the v°-side engr. familiy crest of Reael/Huydecoper, and 8 fold. engr. floor plans and views (260 x 357 mm each) of the stately home 'Huys te Nigtevegt' by B. Stopendaal after H. Kramer. Fol. Loose.

The contours of De Nes were created in 1625 with the construction of a several hundred meters long crossing of a meander in the Vecht for shipping purposes. This created a 14-hectare island within the waterways. In 1633 the island became the property of the Amsterdam Reael family. The Amsterdam master builder Herbert Cramer designed a country estate on the island for this family around 1687. From that century onwards, the island and the country estate were also called Realeneiland, De Nes or Huys te Nigtevecht. From the dedication: "De plaats leyt heel playsant, daar rontom een Laan van Eyken, Nooten en Ipen-bomen is, diergelycke weet ik niet in tien uuren in 't ronde aan te wijsen". Very rare.
