Lodovico Guicciardini (1521-89), Italian businessman and author, left Italy in 1538 and settled down in Antwerp. This is the fourth edition in Dutch of his famous description of the principalities and cities of the Low Countries. The table of contents of this Janssonius edition described in Guicciardini Illustratus, 23 has 2 more plates 'Rheinberg' and 'Middelburg-Stadt-huys' not present in our edition but also not called for in the 'Bladt-Wijser'.
