B(IESHEUVEL), J.M.A. (& J. v.d. HOEK). ("Gezicht op St. Petersburg, Mainz en Zierikzee"). N.d., (early 1960's). Painting in 3 colours on 17th (?) c. oak door, monogrammed 'J.M.A.B.' 75 x 175 cm.Perspective view of St. Petersburg, Mainz and Zierikzee, handsomely painted in green, red and black on a door (including hinges, etc.), which, according to the legend, derived from a washhouse behind Rapenburg 127 where Biesheuvel rented a room. The paint came from a bicycle shop nearby. Although the painting is monogrammed 'J.M.A.B.' a fellow student of Biesheuvel, Jan van der Hoek, did his share of the paintwork. In: 'Biesboek', p. 105 the 'door' can be seen decorating the wall of the 'flat aan de Brahmslaan'.
