Veiling 350 Prints & Drawings

VISSER-DÜKER, Mien (1881-1961). Coloured predesign for stained glass window in stairwell De Bijenkorf, The Hague. N.d. (c. 1925/26). 270 x 500 mm. Pencil and colour wash on cardboard. (Corners a bit dam. and w. pin holes in places).

The Hague affiliate of De Bijenkorf opened as early as 1926. The building was designed by architect Piet Kramer and contains several beautiful stained glass windows, i.a. by Mien Visser-Düker (fourth floor) and her husband Leo Visser (fifth floor). This might be a predesign of Visser-Düker's window, because it differs slightly from the original which still can be admired today.
