KIERS, George Lourens (1838-1916). Album containing a collection of 57 drawings and sketches, all but one in pencil on (partly tinted) paper. N.d. (c.1890-1914?). A third of the collection signed by the artist. Different sizes (250 x 320 mm and smaller). Loosely added (25) or tipped in (32) in sm-fol. leather backed cloth album, lettered on front side: "G.L. Kiers. Gebr. van Rijkom Amsterdam". On the first free endpaper a portrait photograph of Kiers has been added and on the lower paste down his obituary notice is laid down. The collection consists of a nice panorama view on Amsterdam drawn on 3 conjoined strips of paper, harbour and river scenes (i.a. a view on the Schreierstoren), landscapes, (sailing) ships at sea, etc. All loose drawings seem to have been tipped in in the album first, but later removed again for some reason. Also several reproductions of Kiers's oil paintings are presented. - Scheen 596: "Schilder van zee- en riviergezichten met schepen, (…)".
