Fine cont. full vellum w. raised bands, richly dec. gilt backs, gilt coat of arms of A'dam on both sides, surrounded by 2 dec. borders, & brown labels. (Ties broken/gone, prize lacks, a bit browned/foxed).

The most admired edition and rarely used as 'prize books', cf. Dibdin I, 497f; Sandys II, 453f; Schweiger I, 95; Spoelder 493 (Amst. 12). - Wesseling (1692-1764) studied as a disciple of Gronovius and Hemsterhuis in Franeker and Leiden. He was a professor at Franeker for 11 years and in Utrecht for 20 years.
